Do you hear what I hear?

Lately while watching TV, I've noticed something about some new ads that was music to my ears.

Not once, but TWICE, I've been pleasantly surprised to hear the music of two of my most favourite artists.

Listen for Esthero on the new Zellers commercial ...
and Lilly Allen on the new Degree Commercial.

Then go buy their CDs.

I ♥ Mountain Biking

Yesterday the universe was on my side. By shear luck, I randomly arrived at work with all the necessary gear for a mountain bike ride, despite my true intentions.

True intentions = to ride my bike to the shop after work, leave it there and continue to indoor spin class.

However, when I called to let Sweet Pete's know I was on my way, Pete himself told me "how about you just come with us to Albion instead?"

Now that's an offer I couldn't refuse. So off we went and it was Fantastic. Pete had some pretty fancy light sets so even when the sun went down, we were still going. Night riding is something I was only luke warm to (to be generous) in the past, but in a group, riding together at a perfect pace, I found out that it is actually awesome. I think that had a lot to do with the AMAZING lightset I was loaned but just the same.

I felt so great afterwards -- it was the most at peace I've felt in a long time.

In other mountain biking news, check out this photo of me on my new Anthem. This is at the first race of the season which I finished in first place. Thanks to the organizers of Spring Fling -- it was a great event with tons of prizes. Definitely remember for next year! And huge thanks to Mom, Dad and Charlee for coming out to cheer me on (and snap this great photo!)

I'm off to a great start ... can't wait for Ocup 1 this Sunday -- even in the rain.

Cheers!

There goes the neighbourhood ...

Last year about this time I moved into my lovely new apartment. I believe there is a post on here to that effect and if I were a blogger worth my spit I could link to it or something ... but that's just a lot of extra clicking and scrolling I'd gladly leave to you.

Anyway it's not the point.

The point is, the lower levels of my then-brand-new building are filling up with all sorts of interesting ways for me to piddle away my cash.

First, the arrival of the block's token Starbucks and then yesterday, SUBWAY Sandwiches unveiled their sign.

I'll never buy groceries again.

Part of me is truly excited to see a subway in such close proximity to my front door. I really really love their subs.

But the part of me that has to pay for my addiction is distressed. Oh Sweet Onion Teriyaki. Oh Steak and Cheese. Oh Subway Melt. Oh Cold cut Trio.

Woe is me (she said with a grin).

What's next?? I'm holding out for a Blockbuster.

A Step in the Right Direction

For those of you who don't know, I recently switched jobs within my office. I am now a writer which is truly a dream come true. They warned me I ought to have a thick skin when I signed up and over the first month or so I found out why. Most things I 'write' come back nearly unrecognizeable once they've been to the editor/bossman. Am I still supposed to feel like I'm actually writing something? Have I just fooled everyone? I think I may actually make more work around here as opposed to contributing to the team.

But all that doesn't matter today, because TODAY, I sent something to the editor/bossman and his only comment was ... wait for it ... "perfect!"

Wow. I can do it afterall.
